CONTEXT: Following the SLED financial literacy training on basic the concept of an enterprise (business), Business Management skills and Developing a culture of micro savings/ borrowings, The young female entrepreneur wishes to meet the nutritional/dietary needs of her community by expanding her farm and creating more employment.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Smart Farm poultry is a small poultry farm start-up which currently has 100 broilers from the last batch of 150 chicks purchased. Smart Farm was started in August, 2021 and it is currently selling its first set of birds. The business aim is increase the number of birds to 500 within one year and 5,000 birds in 5 years. At this point I will also need an incubator to do the hatching for me. This will enable me start the selling of chicks or at least hatch my own chicks. The community of Farafenni has some small poultries that produce small quantities of birds and hence the dependence on imported chicken to feed the community. It is therefore Smart farm’s wish to multiply its production significantly to bridge this gap.

GOAL: Reduce the rate of nutritional deficiency of my community by supplying affordable produce and create employment through expansion.
